ED'S GOALS AS CLERK
My goals for the County Clerk's Office are simple:
* Improve the Customer Experience;
* Improve Working Conditions;
* Provide Greater Transparency;
* Increase Collaboration with Other Elected Offices.
As your County Clerk, I believe these goals must drive every decision my leadership team makes. Once elected, I am committed to meeting these goals and being the County Clerk you deserve from day one.
PLATFORM & ISSUES
Improve the Customer Experience
Everyone who owns a car, owns a business, or wants to get a marriage license has to do business with the County Clerk's Office. Doing business shouldn't be a painful process.
As County Clerk, the People of Shelby County can expect:

Improved access to services provided by the County Clerk's Office, to include shorter waiting lines, more branches with better parking opened strategically throughout the County.

Increased staffing to serve more customers.

Improved, modernized facilities and technology, including remodeled waiting areas and more self-service kiosks.

Improved communication so residents will know what specific documents they need to get their license plates, renew their tags, get a marriage license, and apply for a business license or notary commission.
Improve Working Conditions
Compensation is the top concern of the employees of the Clerk's Office. They and other Civil Service workers across the County Government - are overworked and underpaid. No one who works a full-time job should still struggle to make basic ends meet. As County Clerk, I will work non-stop to ensure employee compensation meets the demands of today's cost of living.
In addition, I am committed to improving the quality of service through increased professional development and education, leadership and advancement opportunities, and upgrading the outdated technology that the workers currently use.
My goal is to make the County Clerk's Office into a workplace where employees are safe and feel valued for the important services they provide to the People of Shelby County.
Provide Greater Transparency
The County Clerk's Office is one of the few revenue generators for Shelby County, bringing in more than a hundred million dollars per year. The Office collects money on behalf of the State, the County, local municipalities, and (to a lesser degree) the federal government.
The People of Shelby County can expect from day one that monthly revenue reports will be accurate and submitted on time every time. I will ensure that the People know where the money comes and where it goes. My administration won't keep any secrets from the People.
Increase Collaboration
As County Clerk, I will work closely with other elected officials, such as the County Mayor, Commissioners, and Trustee, as well as municipal officials to ensure revenues are collected, disbursed, and reported accurately and on time each month. I will ensure the County Clerk's Office is a valuable and reliable team player during every budget season.
